We started our dive club in 2008 with the goal of creating an informal group of divers of any skill levels and special interests who enjoyed diving around the southeast Wisconsin area. We are lucky to live near Lake Michigan with access to some great shipwrecks. When a ship sinks in Lake Michigan's cold fresh waters, it stays there for us to see for hundreds of years. Lake Michigan was once a major thoroughfare for commerce and the passenger trade and over the centuries there were many storms and disasters on the lake that provided us with the wrecks we can dive today. Old shipwrecks are constantly being discovered on the Great Lakes, and the Wisconsin and Michigan maritime historical societies are continuing to add offical moorings to wrecks and also working to set up shipwreck preserve areas for the purpose of preserving shipwrecks for diving.

Fire Ridge is a public golf course with the conditions, amenities and customer service of a private country club. Gallery 224 is a beautiful gallery whose purpose is to provide a space where emerging artists and art students can show
their work alongside established artists. Exhibitions are curated in a way that teach
and inform the viewer, while inspiring and challenging them.

The Judge Eghart House is a restored 1872 Victorian home built by Louis Teed. A living example of family life in late-19th century Port Washington. Volunteer guided tours include a remarkable collection of Victorian furnishings and household items donated by Port Washington area families and friends. Open Saturdays 1-4, Memorial Day to Labor Day. Adults $3, Children $1, Families $5. Members Free.

The Luxembourg American Cultural Center’s Roots and Leaves Museum is the showpiece of the Cultural Center. The Museum is housed in the rebuilt Mamer-Hansen Luxembourgian stone barn originally built in 1872 by Jacob Mamer, an immigrant from Septfontaines, Luxembourg. Mamer immigrated to Ozaukee County, Wisconsin in 1854. The Roots and Leaves Museum tells the story of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, past and present, as well as the impact of Luxembourg immigrants and their descendants on life in the United States.

Ozaukee County Pioneer Village is a collection of unique historic buildings At present, there are twenty four building and structures open to the public for individual tours, elementary school tours, group and organization sponsored activities, and special events. Some of the special events include an Antique Power Reunion Tractor and Machinery Show, and Bluegrass at the Village, and the Revolutionary War Encampment and Re-enactment! Visitors step back into time as they visit this unique rural village nestled amidst the rolling Hawthorne Hills.

The Arts Council operates as a gallery, activity space, and main office for Gallery 224 and Studio 224. It is located in the heart of downtown Port Washington. The building is a significant historical landmark in the city as it was painter Shirley Schanen Gruen’s studio for forty years.

The Port Washington Historical Society maintains extensive photo and document archives of the history of Port Washington. They can provide research assistance, as well as a good home for historic photos, artifacts and documents you may want to donate.

The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts, located just east of historic downtown Cedarburg, Wisconsin, is dedicated to educating the public about the artistic, cultural, historic and social importance of quilts and fibers arts. We also seek to increase the awareness of historic structure preservation. Exhibits, classes, lectures, and special events.

Birchwood Hills Nature Preserve is an under‑the‑radar gem. The 23 acre perserve contains walking trails though wetlands and woodlands, uplands, ponds and streams. It’s the perfect combo: snapshot-worthy scenery, rich variety, and everything you want in one compact, easy-to-explore loop.

Coal Dock Park is a beautiful peninsula reaching out into Lake Michigan. It is adjacent to the picturesque downtown and marina. The Park has a 1,500’ promenade and an 80’ pedestrian bridge that provide access to Lake Michigan, the South Dock (bird sanctuary) and to the South Beach. It also features a gazebo, historic markers,  scenic views of the City and Lake Michigan, festivals, a walking path, benches, green space and an occasional visiting ship. Dogs welcome as long as they are leashed. The park is a perfect setting for a wedding ceremony.

Located along Lake Michigan in the town of Belgium, WI, Forest Beach Migratory Preserve is 116 acres. This preserve contains a 5-acre hardwood forest with ephemeral (seasonal) ponds, open grassland and prairie, a partially wooded ravine and 5 constructed wetland ponds. The site was previously a golf course but OWLT purchased the land because the property’s location and attributes lend itself to supporting migratory birds along the Lake Michigan Flyway. Immediately upon acquisition, OWLT began stewardship activities including invasive and exotic plant control.

Today the preserve hosts a "patchwork quilt" of habitats that support all kinds of migratory birds, reptiles and mammals. An interpretive trail system invites visitors to meander through the preserve learning about the restoration efforts and the unique restored habitats. Visit this preserve to hike, bird watch, fish, hunt or cross country ski. Pets are not allowed at this preserve at any time.

It’s not hard to ride on a Segway and it’s a lot of fun. You don’t have to have good balance, the Segway balances you. As long as you can stand you can glide on a Segway. Trust is the key! If you are looking for fun, you will find it on one of our Segway tours.

Harrington Beach State Park is a 715-acre Wisconsin state park on the shore of Lake Michigan in the Town of Belgium. In addition to a mile-long beach, the park contains a white cedar swamp surrounding a 26-acre lake that used to be a stone quarry. Hiking trails, cross country skiing, picnic areas. Dog beach on the south side of the park. Admission sticker required.
 

Lion's Den Gorge Nature Preserve represents one of the last stretches of undeveloped bluff land along the Lake Michigan shoreline. This park offers tremendous views. Stroll across bridges over the gorge or down the gorge stairways to walk along the Lake Michigan shoreline. It is also part of the Great Wisconsin Birding Trail.
 

North Beach, located north of the breakwall and at the foot of Upper Lake Park bluffs, is an expanse of sand for swimming, picnicking, or walking. A staircase from Upper Lake Park leads down the bluff to the beach. Other access from Veterans Park.

The Ozaukee Bike Routes website offers turn-by-turn directions for a variety of planned bicycling routes in Ozaukee County. Each route includes information on scenic views, historic villages, rest stops, parks and preserves and other points of interest. The route descriptions, which can be downloaded free of charge, provide the length of each route and level of difficulty. They also give cyclists turn-by-turn instructions to follow through the countryside. The routes are carefully designed to avoid pitfalls such as dead-end roads and to lead riders to bike-friendly river and expressway crossings.

The route of the Ozaukee Interurban Trail is based on the Interurban railway that connected Ozaukee County to the City of Milwaukee and Sheboygan. Today, the Trail is a 30-mile paved trail that spans the entire length of Ozaukee County. The majority of the Trail is off-road and perfect for family enjoyment. The trail is intended for year round uses, such as biking, in-line skating, walking, running and cross-country skiing. Motorized vehicles (including snowmobiles) and horses are not allowed on the trail. Use of the Ozaukee Interurban Trail is free for everyone.

Ozaukee County Mountain Bikers Club (OCMB) is a non-profit organization dedicated to building, maintaining, and riding mountain bike trails in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.

As volunteers, we have built the first legal mountain biking trails in the county at Pleasant Valley Park in Cedarburg. We are currently finishing up our second trail which is located in Port Washington, behind Upper Lake Park.

Our primary goal is to make the sport we love more accessible to the men, women, and children of our area, and to do so in a fun, safe, and sustainable manner. While we are a “club”, we have no requirements for membership and encourage everyone to attend our meetings, group rides, and/or help out at our trail maintenance events!

 

Thirty nature preserves throughout Ozaukee and Washington Counties. Many have trails for hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Some sites allow fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. Check the website for locations and maps of the preserves.
The Ozaukee Washington Land Trust offers services to property owners and communities throughout Ozaukee and Washington Counties in the areas of land conservation, education and stewardship. Since 1992, more than 6,200 acres of forests, wetlands and open space have been protected through acquisition and conservation easements.
 

Port Washington Main Street, in collaboration with the City of Port Washington, launched a three-year mural program to bring 10+ murals to our city between 2023 and 2025. Port Washington has a rich art history, and we are excited to use public art to add vibrancy to our downtown and our city while paying homage to its history and character.

Port Washington has been chosen as the location for the Mural Mosaic Global Roots Project America Connects Midwest Mural! Port Washington represents the 11 states comprising the Midwest region in this global art project, whose aim is to re-connect people throughout art across the globe. Port Washington Main Street, as a non-profit organization working in economic development for the historic downtown, received the mural as a donation, and it was installed on the north wall of Twisted Willow Restaurant (308 N Franklin St) in April 2023.

As a visitor to Riveredge you will find a diverse and beautiful landscape to wander on foot, on skis or snowshoes. Our 370-acre sanctuary has ten miles of trails around ponds and fens, through woodlands and prairies, and along the Milwaukee River. Our goal is to build a self-discovered awareness that we are part of nature, and to empower people to act on that knowledge. We aim to help others to live well on this earth.

Sauk Creek Nature Preserve spans 27 acres of diverse landscapes. The namesake creek winds north to south over limestone bedrock before flowing into Lake Michigan near the marina. Along its path, you’ll find a rich floodplain forest and wetland seeps that feed fresh water into the stream. The eastern half of the preserve, once farmland, has been reclaiming itself for over 30 years and is now home to a thriving second-growth forest. Trails connect the area to nearby neighborhoods, and a footbridge offers easy access to the creek. Whether you're hiking, birdwatching, or fishing, this scenic preserve is a quiet haven for both people and wildlife. It also serves as an important ecological corridor and a hands-on learning space for the community. Leashed pets are welcome, too.

Haven't you always wanted to learn to sail? Our sailing program designed for boys and girls (ages 8-15) and adults (16 and older). In addition to on-the-water sailing instruction, students learn boating / safety skills, seamanship skills, perform land drills, and play team-building games. Classes are offered at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Special programs include adult basic sailing and classes for racing tactics on specific types of boats.
