Greater Port Washington Kiwanis Club
The Port Washington Kiwanis Club officially began with its “Charter Night” meeting on March 16th, 1937. That meeting was held at the Masonic Temple with 28 of the 31 official charter members present. The clubs first sponsorship was the Boy Scouts of America Troop 37. This was formally passed on June 17th, 1937. The club still sponsors the same Scout group today, which is now known as Troop 837. On July 28th the club held its first Ladies Night. It was held at the Port Washington Country Club to honor wives and girlfriends. Rural night on October 19th of the same starting year had 26 local farmers in attendance. The first year was a good one.

The weekly meetings were held on Tuesday evenings in the old Hoffmann House. Meals started at $.75 and were raised to $.90. When the meals were raised to $1.25 the Club moved to the Congregational Church. Later the Club held meetings at the King’s Restaurant in the Mayer Hotel. From there the Club moved to the Smith Brothers Fish Shanty. The Club then went to the Wilson House for a few years. Buchel’s Colonial House has been the Clubs home for the past several years.

One of the early years main fund raiser was the annual Minstrel Show. In the 1950s the Club sponsored concerts by the Marine Band and the Navy Band. These were held in the High School Gym and were a huge success. With the coming of Port Washington’s Fish Day, the Club's fish stand has been the main fund raiser.

Starting in the 1940s the Club sponsored a children’s Halloween party for several years. Also, in the 1940s they started the High School Honors Banquet, and proudly continues this today. Most recently the Club has sponsored Week of the Young Child, a national program, for our area preschoolers through 4th graders. It’s a week of fun activities for our club members as well as the children.

Port Washington-Saukville School District
Hello Everyone!

Welcome to summer in the Port Washington-Saukville School District and our very special place. Summer is an active time in our district. Our very popular and comprehensive summer school program has another huge number of participants, with over 60% of our students engaged in a variety of learning and enrichment activities.

Teachers and administrators are receiving training in effective classroom use of technology, curriculum writing, varied instructional strategies, and student assessment. We are taking advantage of the summertime so teachers can continue developing advanced knowledge in assisting the students to be even more successful. We have a great staff, and when you combine a great staff with continued professional growth, the students and our communities are the big winners.

Our School Board is very active this summer as it reviews the results of the feasibility study and develops a community survey. The Board also continues committee meetings, special meetings, and regular monthly meetings. The schedule of their meetings and minutes are posted on our website under "About our District". In addition, our secretarial and custodial staff members are doing their usual great work.

Our administrative team is continuing their training in a comprehensive teacher evaluation system and the supervision of the teachers' use of technology. They are also reviewing recent research on leadership and receiving instruction in effective communication and responding positively to change.

One of the most important responsibilities of a leader is to hire great people. The administrators are again using a research-based, comprehensive hiring process to fill vacancies as they search for the "best of the best" to work with our children.

As you can see, we have a very special place here, with approximately 400 employees and 9 School Board members who genuinely care about each and every child. Our mission is to educate every child to reach his or her greatest potential. Please click on the video link above to learn more about building optimism in children.

Finally, the Superintendent's office continues to be open throughout the summer from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Feel free to contact us if we can be of any additional assistance or support.

Best Regards,

Michael R. Weber, Ph.D.

VeoliaEnvironmental Services, LLC

Veolia’s Rich History of Innovation and Service

Our parent company, Veolia Environnement, was founded at the dawn of the industrial era and the start of urban development. We have a rich history of continuously adapting to the ever-changing environmental needs of our world for more than 150 years. And we are committed to staying a step ahead by researching and developing technologies and innovations to meet society’s needs well into the future. With seven billion people on our planet and counting—half of them living in urban areas—Veolia is dedicated to staying true to our rich heritage of safety, service and environmental stewardship.

Today, the Veolia Environnement family of companies includes Veolia Water, Veolia Environmental Services and Veolia Energy. It is the largest environmental services company in the world, employing 220,000 individuals in countries all across the globe.
Our Origins

The origins of Veolia Environmental Services worldwide date back to the French organization, Compagnie Générale des Eaux (CGE). In 1953, CGE, which had been created 100 years earlier to supply cities with drinking water, began collecting household waste, and later expanded its capabilities into the hazardous waste sector. CGE’s operations continued to grow worldwide and were gradually consolidated under the Onyx name, which was rebranded to Veolia Environmental Services in 2005.
Veolia Environmental Services Today

Today, Veolia Environmental Services is the only operator with solid, liquid, non-hazardous and hazardous waste capabilities and is the global benchmark for waste management and resource recovery. Veolia Environmental Services has operations in 33 countries with over 64,000 dedicated employees.

Veolia Environmental Services’ presence in North America dates back to the mid 1980s, when the company began operating waste-to-energy facilities in the United States. Today, the company's footprint includes over 120 operating locations and approximately 5,400 employees who provide hazardous and non-hazardous waste and industrial cleaning and maintenance services to the industrial, commercial and governmental sectors.

Grocery & Specialty Foods

Ewig's Market

Located on the west shore of Lake Michigan, in Port Washington, Wisconsin, our smokehouse continues the family tradition of turning out the finest smoked fish products in the region.

Since the “old” days when Lake Michigan fish were brought in by our boats, smoked on site, in traditional smokehouses, then sold in our market, little has changed in the process of producing quality smoked fish for our customers.

We insist on hardwood fires, in seasoned smokehouses, as the best way to smoke our fish. 7 days a week, year around, we are smoking Lake Michigan Chubs, Canadian Lake Trout, Alaskan and Atlantic Salmon, and Whitefish.

Lake Michigan chubs are the most popular. Smoked golden brown, their oily texture is still the delicacy they were decades ago.

Renew Port Holdings
Renew Port Holdings (RPH) was founded by Port Washington resident, Gertjan van den Broek, in the belief that the people who live and work in our community should own our community. With a focus on community-based, sustainable development and preserving and building on the unique features within our community, RPH works to stem the tide of uncontrolled outside development that has robbed so many communities of their independence and character.

With current credit market and economic conditions, it is difficult for small business owners and developers to fund the businesses and improvements that our downtown deserves and needs. RPH offers an alternative way to fund these improvements, while giving residents the opportunity to invest in and own their own community.

Join us in renewing Port Washington!!

I believe choosing the right real estate agent is the first step in buying or seling a home. When it comes to deciding on an agent to work with, it is all about details. From listening to the needs and wants of the buyer and seller, to explaining and educating about current market conditions, I am here to help.

For buyers, my sales experience and negotiation skills have proven positive results. For sellers, with the help of the outstanding Shorewest marketing department, I am able to expose their home to the largest number of buyers. My goal is to put my clients' best interest first.

Being able to tell my buyers, "Congratulations, you got the house!" and telling my sellers, "Congratulations, we have an accepted offer!" is what being a Realtor is all about!
